Native Readers Become Powerful Leaders

Accomplishments… Your Donations at Work

During the school years of 2017-2019 Read-at-Home put every donated penny to work providing subscriptions of Highlight’s High Five magazines to over 350 preschool children at Chinle/Canyon de Chelley, Many Farms and Tsaille (Navajo Nation, Arizona). Additionally, we provided subscriptions for 150 Head Start children at Fort Hall (Shoshone-Bannock Indian Reservation, Idaho).

Read-at-Home has also sent High Five and Hello magazines to additional preschool classes at the Tuba City Library (Navajo Nation) and to the Gila River Indian Community in Arizona.

We continue to work with preschool teachers, parents, and children and respond to new requests from other Native American schools. Please help us. Every contribution goes fully to connecting children and their families with reading at home.

“When my 4-year old son brings home his High Five magazine, he is gleeful! He can’t wait to hear the stories and follow along with the pictures. Whether it’s the newest issue or an old favorite, our ritual is to snuggle up and read one magazine together before bed every night.” -Darcy Knobel, Idaho parent
